Over at Travel With Me, the topic is Picking Favourites.
To pick three fav. photographs is a daunting task, though after some rifling through my files I managed.
Naturally, such choices are entirely subjective and thank goodness the word ‘best’ is not included in the challenge.
This is a shot of my father taken sometime around ’78.
I have loads of photos of family and friends, but this has to be my favourite and so typifies my dad; relaxed, smiling and reading his paper.
It was taken with a Kodak Instamatic 110 – my very first camera – which makes it all the more special.
I’ve posted this shot a couple of times already and although it was sort of staged – I saw the birds flying toward the tower on their way home and hoped to get some sort of shot – never in a million years would I have expected to capture an Ibis in this fashion.
Sony Cybershot.
And last but not least ….
Without doubt, one of my favourite shots ever!
This too was a one in a million.
Riding shotgun while out to buy stock I was randomly taking photos. It was only after I uploaded this one did I notice the sign behind the cyclist. A millimetre to the right and the shot would have been meaningless.

Thanks for joining the challenge. The timing on both the ibis and cycle shots is really quite something!

Never a truer word, as the say!
I bow to his experience in such matters

All fine and dandy. The entire fam. was down with flu. (Not Covid.) Knocked us out for almost three weeks.
Still feeling the effects; lethargy and a few coughs and sniffles.
But we are almost back to normal.

Those clip-on sunshades … I really like the photograph of your Dad. The sign behind the cyclist takes the cake … is Emily listening?

I agree Ark, the bicyclist in front of the sign is a perfect kind of serendipity that only happens if we’re always focused on the world around us. As photographers I think we are, as a group, much more aware of our surroundings. Super choices for the challenge.

Will always love that pic of your Dad because of his Steampunkish sunglasses! Very cool indeed. Three fine choices Ark. The Ibis on top of the Hillbrow and the cyclist were very serendipitous. Well done. 🙂

Great choices. The instamatic of your Dad wins the prize of course. (We all had the same stuff, right?)
