Death’s Head Hawkmoth Caterpillar.
As soon s it was rescued from the attentions of the cat it was put into a box for safety while I nipped out to the garden to sort out a temporary home for it.
Within minutes of depositing it atop the soil it began to burrow. Soon it had completely buried itself and there it will stay as it goes through pupation. In a month or so if all goes well another Death’s Head Hawkmoth will emerge!
Naturally, I shall keep you posted.
