Free Speech? Sorry, there ain’t no Free Lunch.

It goes without saying but I’ll mention it in any case that when so many of these cherished rules about Freedom and in context, Free Speech, were laid down by all those solemn men …

And we can stop right there.

See the problem?

Right, where were we? Freedom. All those charters and rules, lavishly decorated scrolls with wax seals and God knows what and … oops … I suppose we should stop there, too.

See the problem?

So, in effect there probably isn’t true freedom.

On second thought …. there is one true freedom. One that is usually overlooked and often not even taken into consideration, and yet it is the one that needs to be cherished.

The Freedom To Accept The Consequences.

  1. Ahhh, yes. Accountability. Ownership of behavior, of words. Culpability. Amenability to a Greater Good, to self? Many lenses with a view to what composes fuller, truer Freedom.

P.S. Never heard of the Tom Robinson Band. There were TONS of punk rock bands coming out of the U.K. back then. Guess I missed this one too. πŸ˜„

          1. I was about to type “talent for goalkeeping and drums,” but the Enter button accidentally depressed, went off, and I could not type fast enough before you jumped all over this opportunity to talk about my immensity!!! πŸ˜†

Oh well, you’ve started something now Ark. So typical of you. πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜›

  2. Yeah, it’s called personal responsibility, the hand maiden of all our rights and freedoms… not that many are taught to understand the necessary connection. I suppose I should have given a trigger warning first in case anyone finds that notion frightening and/or offensive.
