Leading someone up the garden path

Every year around this time toadstools begin to appear in the garden. All due to the heavy rains I suppose.

Anyway, someone asked: ”Have you seen the white toadstools in the back garden , Dad”, to which I replied: ”Yes, and they’ll be gone by tomorrow once I’ve mowed the lawn.”

”Why don’t you postpone mowing for a few days and let’s see how big they grow this year?”

”I’llΒ  mow around them, how’s that suit you?”

This morning, after I’d mowed the front lawn I thought I’d have a bit of fun, so I fetched a red permanent marker pen and … well, you can see the result, and I left it at that.

Around 4:30 this afternoon Ems calls from the garden.” Dad, come and see this!”

”What is it? I’m busy.”

”It’s the toadstools. You won’t believe what’s happened to them! Bring your camera.”

Normally, I would be out my chair in a flash. However ….

”Ems, I’ve just sat down. I’m worn out. Take a picture with your camera.”

After a few more protestations, pleads and almost a whine she gave up. But then a few moments later the cursing began as someone realized she had been had!

By now I was nearly bursting with restrained laughter and then a red faced Ems appears at my office door.

”You sneaky sod!”

  1. Hello Ark. Ah the merry prankster. And in a family normally one prank is followed by a retaliatory prank. Be worried my friend, be very worried for something comes for you soon. πŸ˜€πŸ˜πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘πŸ‘ Hugs

    1. Well …. you’re Australian after all.
I had thought of using a blue marker but then remembered the mushrooms in fairy stories you know, red ones with white dots – so went with the red.
