    1. Yes, I am always bemused by this term. We have a butterfly called a Common Diadem and I have seen it three times in fifteen years.
      Perhaps it is as you suggest , more an allusion to status or class rather than abundance, and if this is the case no wonder the Bulbul looks miffed as you point out. I would too …. bloody cheek of those hornythoogists or whatever they call them selves, right?
