It fluttered by.

A pair of Crimson Speckled Footmen mating.

I am wondering if one shouldn’t be a Foot woman?

Until recently, seeing one of these pretty moths was a rare treat, let alone two at once and certainly not in such an intimate situation!

It seems that, with the drought we have been experiencing, the late hatching of certain predators has allowed traditional prey to thrive. Or at least, that’s one theory I heard bandied about; I’m no entomologist.

Caught these two just before lunch.

Post coital indifference.

”What, not even a kiss goodbye?”

For the record, it threw it down yesterday evening and we have all gone green again and today we sit under grey leaden skies. Wonderful!

Ark.
